Adding to your blog sidebar:

All you need to do is add a text widget to your sidebar and write a link to the image here on this blog using HTML code.

Here is an example of how you need to write the code:

Where it says:

http://theedublogger.edublogs.org/files/2009/o3/theedublogger2.jpg

you replace it with the image location given above for the size of badge you want to add to your sidebar.

Enjoy!

Miss W. says, “Thanks very much James  from Edublogs for designing and organizing these badges.  Also many thanks to Sue from Edublogs for writing this post to show students and me how to add them to their blog.  I am sure many students and classes will soon have them on their blogs and will have left a comment here thanking you for your support of the challenge.”

Thank you to both Sues & James for making these badges available. I’ve successfully put one on my blog, but as we are on holiday at the moment I’ll have to hope my students are checking the challenge blog regularly. I know they’re obviously relaxing as not many posts have appeared on the various blogs! :-)

Thanks James, Sue and Ms Wyatt for the badges and clear instructions. I put our class one in no problem, I expected a glitch as I did it but all straightforward. I wish the holidays were over, (well not really) so that we can get into this blogging commenting challenge.

I have tried to add one of the badges to my sidebar a couple of times, and I must be missing something. I inserted a text widget on my sidebar and then wrote the html code inside the widget. Am I missing a step. Thanks

    Mrs Hugghins,
Are you remembering to put the image location, which is found above the image you want to use, inside the quotation marks in the HTML code?

It won’t work if you are just typing in the http:// image location piece of writing.

    Mrs. Hugghins Reply:

Thank you for your reply. My students are really enjoying the challenge. They have already learned a great deal about how blogs work and how they can use blogs to communicate with others.

On adding the badge to my side bar, I looked at the comment before trying to add the image to a text widget. I opened up the text widget and entered

I am going to have my students try it and maybe they can get it to work and then show me if I am doing anything wrong.

Thanks again for your help and for running an excellent challenge

I am sorry, something was left off of my original reply to your comment. The omitted text was:

I used the hotmail code as it was shown on the comment below the badges. In other words I used the open and closed arrows with img scr= and the url in quotation marks.

    Miss W. Reply:

    Hi Mrs Hugghins,
I just read your reply. I think it is a matter of reversing two letters. It is src= not scr=

Thank you for the great catch on the letter reversal. I cannot tell you how many times I tried to get that image on my sidebar and I reversed the letters every time. It almost became an obsession to get it right. Anyway, thanks for your help. It was driving me crazy.
