Comment! Comment! week 3
WOW! Two posts for the challenge this week. Some students and classes took a great deal of care writing their commenting guidelines from last week’s challenge. Have a look at these:
Abbey, Mrs Yollis, Mr Miraglia, Jessica, Brad, Chris, Emily, Kelly - teachers are the same, all over the world Kelly!!
- Fab4 even made a video earlier this year about why they want to blog.
- Mrs Cousino has some tips for starter sentences when commenting on blogs.
- Mrs Bee’s class have created ’scooper tops.‘ What are these you ask?
- Mrs Thompson’s class were advertising the blogging challenge.
These students wrote posts about the comments they left: Brad, Abby
This week’s challenges
- How are the comments made by Brad and Abby the same? How are they different? Which comment(s) would lead on to further conversation between Brad or Abby and the owner of the blog?
- How can you write a great post so lots of people leave comments? Check out this post by Sue Waters from the Edublogger. Write a post you think will invite a lot of comments.
- When someone leaves a comment, are you leaving an answer for them in your comment area, are you visiting their blog to leave a comment or are you sending an email to them if they left their email address? Which of these three do you think carries the conversation on about the topic in your blog? Why?
- If you want to have threaded comments in your blog, then enter this competition run by The Edublogger. It closes soon so you might want to write this post first.

Hello Class,
My name is Belinda and I attend the Unversity of South Alabama and Dr. Strange teaches my class. We have learned to blog as well, and I really like it. I think that this blog task is great for your class and I hope you all are enjoying it too.

Brad and Abby’s comments are the same because they are both saying stuff about themselves, such as their hobbies, school and where they live. Some of the comments made by both bloggers also include questions to who they are commenting to.
Brad and Abbys comments are different because Brad says hello and then states the name of the person he is commenting to. Brad also asks more Questions than Abby, trying to get people to comment back and start a conversation. Abby’s comments are longer and based more around her and where she lives etc.
Both of the bloggers are very good commenter’s and ask questions to get people to start conversations through their blog.

I think that Brads comments lead to futher conversations becuase he askes more than one question and his commets are very descriptive. Here’s one of his better commets, ‘because you are from Australia and mentioned ocean swimming, do you perhaps go surfing or swim in the ocean? Is the water deep blue or clear? Enjoy your next swim!’, Abby only asks the odd question!.

We think that Brad and Abby are both good commenters but Brad asks good questions that don’t have obvious answers, introduces him self and writes how he is similar to the person he is commenting.
He gives information about himself.

I think Brad writes confident and specific coments. People will clearly understand and be able to learn more and comment back leading to a discussion.

Hi we are Tyla and Dandarra
We both like Brads comments because at the end of everyone he has a question and for the answers you really have to think about it!!! he has a realy good introduction.

I think that Brad’s comment is a lot better than Abby’s. Brad’s comment involves a lot of information and related questions. Abby’s post involves information but not really any questions.

Brad and Addys comments are the same because they both telling imformation about themselves and aksing personal questions. Brad and Abbys comments are dirrerent because Brad asks more personal questions and gives more personal imformation where is Abby doesnt give to much imformation and doesnt ask to many good questions. Comments on each others blogs and ask questions about their information and give advise.

We think Brad’s questions would lead to futher conversation because he talks a bit about him self and then asks questions about them so they can coment back to him. He also makes you relise that he listens to you because he talks about what you say. Also he puts most of his questions at the end of his comment.

Hi Mrs W
It is Shannon and Savannah
We think that Brad is a better commenter because he leaves his questions at the end of what he wants to comment s its does not get lost in the middle of it.
Abby comments on something she likes about whatever blog shes on and then she says something about herself.

They were both very good but I think Brads one was better. He had better spelling then Abby and asked lots of safisticated questions. They had a few things in coomon though. They both introduced themselves at the start of each comment, they both like swimming and baseball and both go to high school.

Feel free to join in but might be best to work as a class blog rather than registering lots of individual ones. I am having trouble keeping up with the registering of student blogs. If they want to register separately, can they do it later this week? Then I will have the backlog caught up.

I think Brad and Abby’s blog both put information about themselves. They are alike but different at the same time. Brad and Abby both talk about where they are from and alot about their hobbies. Brad asks questions at the end and Abbey does not. Brad’s is also more personal and Abby has more general stuff in hers.

Brad’s and Abby’s comments differ in many ways, but they are also the same in many ways too. Abby says that she is commenting for a blogging challenge and Brad just comments to comment. They both talk about how they are doing the same things the people they are commenting on are doing.

I am a relatively new blogger. I did start a blog last year in order to communicate with parents about class assignments and give links to study help for my students. I did not open my blog to comments because I was really just focused on a tool for parents and a resource guide for students.
After entering this challenge with my Spanish III students, I have learned so much about taking risks and changing the way I teach class. My students have their own blogs now and we are trying to connect with Spanish speaking students in order to practice Spanish while allowing heritage speakers to practice their English.
I really would like to get some ideas from other educators about how you actually use blogs to have student-centered learning. I have read alot of content on postings, comments and the logistics of blogging. I would really love to hear ideas about how you creative and inspiring teachers out there are using your blogs to help your students learn 21st century style.

Brad and Abby’s comments are similar because they both give information about themselves then ask questions to learn more about the people they are commenting to. Abby inputs more information about herself while Brad asks for more information. The comments that ask more questions would lead to a longer conversation like Abby’s fourth and Brad’s second.

I think Brad and Abby’s comments are very similar in context., although Brad asks more questions in his comments meaning him and the owner of the blog would be more likely to carry on a conversation, while Abby mentions more about herself and where she lives ETC.
They both mention their hobbies and what they like to do.

Brad and Abbey’s comments are the same because they are both saying stuff about them self. Brad’s comment is different because he says he enjoys swimming and asks a question if the water is clear. As for Abbey just says that she likes softball.
