This is something I would like my class to participate in when we start back in the fall. Our year is quickly coming to an end right now! Thank you for the comment on our blog. We didn't actually visit Ellis Island, but would have loved too! That would have been an amazing field trip. Our school is about 45-60 northwest of Chicago, Illinois. We are many hours from New York City, so we did a simulation instead. The students really learned a lot about the history of their families and the background on how many people came to America in the late 1800s/early 1900s. It was a great experience for them to really understand what happened at Ellis Island. Love your blog and the idea of posting challenges.
