Week 6 – Festivals and celebrations
As we have participants from 9 different countries taking part in the blogging challenge, Sue Waters and I thought it would be great to have a post about the festivals and celebrations you have in your country or the area you live.
I know students in my class will have just had the Royal Hobart Show they could write about, students living in Georgia must have some sort of “Peach Festival” as that is the nickname of their state, Halloween is around the corner as well.
Activities to choose from for week 6
Write a post about a festival or celebration you have attended. Describe the festival and its history. What was it about? Did you enjoy it or not? Make your post at least three paragraphs long so your readers will have lots to comment about. Try to include links and an image with the correct attribution. If you don’t know how to attribute photos then use the link in the previous sentence. If you want help in finding creative commons images then check here.
Change your theme to have some sort of festival appearance. If you have a music ipod on your blog, make sure the music relates to your festival.
Write about a festival or celebration you would like to visit in the future. Mention why you would like to go there - perhaps the snow festival in Sapporo in Japan. Find links and an image to include, again with correct attribution.
Remember: you need to have at least 5 links in your blogroll for the activity next week. These links don’t include the ones that were in your blogroll originally. You can have as many links as you like, see Nadine’s and Ashley’s blogrolls – about 20 names in each of them.

Hi Miss W,
DO you know that one of the greatest festival for North Indians is coming up in two days. It’s called Diwali with lots of sweets and crackers. It’ll be tremendous fun and I’m very excited! I suppose my friends here do not know much so I will be writing a post soon. Looking forward to read other posts too!!
Miss W, I use a blogroll widget on blogger, as my blogroll is very huge- around 70 people!!! SO I have selected the option to randomly show only 10 names on my blog…will that do?
BTW, Miss W, I wanted to tell you and all my other friends here that I’ve recently posted a fantasy story on my blog “for kids”. I’ve stayed up all night doing that and I would be glad to know your views!

Hi There !
In Auckland, New Zealand, we are waiting for the Lantern Festival in January 2009. It will have hundreds of colourful lanterns brought over from China. There will be lanterns of all colours, shapes and designs. It happens every year and it’s very popular ! It will be held in Albert Park, right by the university.

Oh No!

Miss Wyatt, the learner bloggers can’t add people to their blogroll! We need our teacher to sign in for us and the problem is that my class isn’t going to the computer room!
What can I do? Can I have more time please?
This is a pretty difficult one, but hopefully I shall do well. Cross fingers!! Though what a fab idea for the competition!!

Dear Ms W.
What fun this competition sounds! I am still thinking about entering.
I just want to say thank you very much for leaving such a kind comment on my blog…the intervieuw shall be coming very soon, I am having some technical difficulties at the moment. I hope you and your students understand!
I heard that you are a teacher in Tazmania (not so sure about the spelling). I think it is near, or in, Australia, no? I went to Australia when I was two. Sadly I do not remember much, but I hope to go back one day! I have family living there, an uncle with his wife and kids, and my other Auntie, with her Husband and kids.
I hope that I can stay in touch with you and your students!

^_^
well, buffalo wing are simlpy just chicken wings coated with hot sauce; some places make then differently, but either way, they are very tasty^^
corn dogs are just hot dogs on a stick, then they coat the whole thing with corn bread batter, and after, they fry it. Personally, I do not like corn dogs, but alot of people i know like them.
now the best, fired oreos!! simply you put an oreo cookie( chocolate cookies with iceing in the center) and then they put it in a fryer, and sometimes sprinkled with confectionate sugar.

Hi, Miss W.
Thanks for commenting on my blog about Halloween and Holidays. I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed my posts. I agree that it is interesting to see the small differences between countries with their Christmas traditions. One side of my family is Polish, where the other side is Italian, and I always love to learn about each side’s traditions and customs. During Christmas time especially, I get to follow traditions from both sides and learn about my heritage. I also love eating the foods from both countries!! HAHA!!!

P.S. I really enjoyed this topic for a post-I couldn’t stop writing!!!

Miss Wyatt, my post/comment is about the Warrnambool Show.
This year, 2008, the 156th Warrnambool Show was celebrated. I didn’t go this year but I have been previous years and I think it’s a great little show considering that Warrnambool is in the country. They have some gtreat rides there, food caravans, show stands, games stands and probably more! Around our area The Warrnambool Show is a public holiday, so most school children go to it with their families or friends. The Warrnambool Show started with local farmers showing their live stock, cows, sheep, goats, etc. At the show there are competitions for healthiest animal, best looking animal and others too, if you are lucky you can win ribbons for your animals. They are also petting zoos, which are sheds with all different sorts of animals for children to look at and play with. Sometimes at small shows there are chook competitions, and you can buy them afterwards.
