A journey through reading
By reading the blogs of other people like Larry Ferlazzo, you often come across a website that has potential in the classroom. This happened to me today when I found a link to this site at PicLits. Naturally I checked out any age limits and could find nothing mentioned on the site, so joined and created my first masterpiece.
You are shown many photos to choose from, then can drag and drop or create freehand a poem or significant line to add to the photo.

See the full PicLit at PicLits.com
As we are doing work using the multiple intelligences, perhaps you could create a collage, with one liners for each type of intellignece.

Hi Miss Wyatt,
So glad to hear that you came across our site, http://www.PicLits.com. I would love to give you more info about it if you are interested. We think it is a great classroom teaching tool and fun for kids too!
The site has lesson plans in the “Learn It” section and the photos and keywords change every weekday. It’s a great place to play with words and images.

Hi Miss Wyatt
I am the founder of PicLits. Carrie is our administrator for the site. Everyone at PicLits appreciates the blog and positive feedback we are receiving. Not only do the language arts teachers ( grades 6 thru 12 ) find it a useful tool but the adults are finding the site. We just added a feature to the FREESTYLE method. We added a POP Up that appears on Freestyle that offers up several words extracted from the DRAG-N-DROP list. This allows a person to create a PicLit with a combination of their words and our words. We will add a “PRINT IT” function in Dec that will allow for your personal PicLit to be print in a greeting card format or just as a print out. Several ESL teachers are also on board and I think we will find their feedback ( when it comes back ) to be potentially a positive one.
thanks again, Terry Friedlander
