Students taking the lead
What a joy it is to see students taking on leadership roles. This wiki is about stopping whaling and has been set up by two students. Stephie is in Argentina and she has commented on the blog of Nadine in Australia who has also commented back to Stephie. The two of them are very concerned about whaling, so after a recommendation from one of Stephie’s teachers, they have set up a wiki for other students to join who also have concerns with whaling.
Wonder what the girls and their friends will do with their wikispace about stopping whaling?

I think it is awesome that students are taking the initiative when it comes to incorporating technology in their lives and in the classroom. I really think that it really promotes the importance of the internet and technology in classrooms because it truely has broadend the world for these students as they create wikis from different countries and Continents!!!! Allowing technology in the classroom has opened up a new world for our students and it gives them the benefits of interacting with people from all walks of life instead of just being limited to the people that surround them. I really like the question at the end because there truely is no limit to what these students could do with their wikis!! They can make more and even spread their knowlegde even further by putting out other information and creating new wikis. What a great idea from these studnets!!!

Firstly, thank you for writing about me and Stephie, it means alot to us! Secondly, you writing this on your class’s blog will help ALOT with visitors around the world. After all, we’d love more whale fighters. We both agree that it is awful, and so that is why we put this together. The picture is great! It looks really well and suits the subject, good one.
Thanks a BUNCH once more for this, such great help you’ve done us I don’t know how to repay you.
Bye and thanks thanks thanks for sharing this subject!!

[...] also love the fact that the web provides a territory for them to grow up and for me to watch them taking the lead [...]
