Student comment challenge
Thought I would try to make it easy for my students to keep a track of where they are in the challenge by writing a page that I will update every few days. It will be a modified version of the adult comment challenge, but I feel students can also be doing things like auditing their comments, widening the range of blogs they visit, keeping track of their comments.
If anyone else would like to comment on the page, feel free, because as a new blogger myself, I don’t know all the answers like using google applications or documents for tracking etc.

I think it is great you are doing this with students.
Best of luck and I hope you keep us updated on your progress.
You know, Paul Allison and others in a project called Youth Voices had developed some Comment Starters for students who didn’t quite know how to comment beyond the usual …. hi, how are you? etc.
I could dig it up if you needed a resource like that.

Thanks Kevin, that would be great if you can dig up that resource. I could then add as a link on the student page to give them some more clues to improve their blogging.

Hey Sue — I’ve added a link to your page on the Student Participant page of the wiki and suggested the other educators check out what you are doing and provide feedback.

Thanks Sue – might also have a google about student commenting and see what comes up, but would like to follow as close as possible to the adult version. Will eventually make the students into better bloggers and comments are a large part of that happening in their future. I can already see a difference in some of the students.

Hello,
This is Mrs. Berry, class of some fifth grade students in Florida, USA. One of your students, Lisa, commented on our blog. They wrote back to her….on our blog. We are pretty new to blogging and so they are still figuring out how to comment on someone else’s blog.
We are also participating in the 31-day challenge. So far, most of our comments have been to each other, as we are working on several projects and I’m trying to teach students about “audiences” and how to “discuss” online. Please feel free to offer your comments/suggestions to us about our blog, as we are “newbies”!
