What do you know about internet safety?
As this is going to be the first time many of you are using a blog, I need to be sure you know how to interact on the web safely. What are three things you can mention in a blog? What are three things you should NEVER mention in a blog and why? Write your answers in two separate paragraphs but in the same comment.
If you have some time at home and want to visit a couple of good websites I have found mentioned on other teachers’ blogs, try these out: ……

We are not allowed to give our address because they can come and stalk if the wrong person finds it.
our last name because people can look it up in the phone book. also our phone number. just our first name.
BG – that’s correct. But what are some things you can mention on our blog?

On our blogs we can mention our favourite sports, subjects and first name because thay can not find out where you live by that.
But three things we can never mention are our school, last name or state we live in because they are good clues for bad people to bfind you.

Well done Lisa. Do you think you are going to enjoy blogging?

Hi Miss W and class. We are learning about internet safety too. Another thing we don’t mention is where we will be at a certain time. So we would never say “I walk my dog down Main St every afternoon”. But we can say, “I walk my dog every afternoon”. And we can say, “Collingwood is the best team in the AFL” because it doesn’t allow anyone to find us and, very importantly, it’s true!
MrsC – I disagree with you on your last comment. It is the WCE who are the best team. Go the Eagles!! But there are some teachers at our school who would agree with you.

Lisa
Lisa – it is on our class blog – the section labelled “Parents and technology” She could make a comment on there.

hi miss w i think you can do: go on games (that are not downloadable games), go on school emails, look at peoples blogs, go on computer with teachers permission, do school work. And you can’t do: go on pornorgraphy web sites, pull plug out of the back of the computer, try and fix the computers, go in the library and have the computers volume up full, can’t write full name.
Well said peanut man, make sure I know who you are if you are in my class so I can mark you off on my list for blogging comments.

Hi Miss W i am enjoying blogging already talking about internet saftey you can’t tell anyone about were you live and your last name if you tell them your last name they can track you down and find out where you live. You can’t be rude and nasty about other people’s blogs. Now the things you can do on the blog website you can tell them your fist name and that way they carn’t track you down and also you have to be nice about there blog.
emma
Emma, if you disagree with what someone has said on the blog, you still have to reply in a polite way but you can still say you disagree.

you can use your first name because people can not find you by your first name, your favourite subject and your favourite activity.
You can not use you whole name, where you live or your email address.
